Fellow Young Republicans!

We hope you’ve survived the Great Storm/Power Destructor of 2012 without too much trouble- I know my roommates and I had our fair share of misery, lurking around the apartment, dodging falling trees in the parking lot, and generally trying to survive the following heat wave. Certainly makes you appreciate the little things, like AC and electricity.

We do have an exciting month for you coming up, and we hope to see you at some of our upcoming events!
The Arlington Falls Church Young Republicans are hosting a Happy Hour Meet and Greet for fellow Young Republican, Matt Wavro. This event is tomorrow night – Tuesday, July 3 at 6pm at Baileys Pub and Grille (Ballston). If you aren’t traveling for the Fourth of July Holiday you should get your holiday started off right with a happy hour the night before the 4th! We will be in the Pool and game room of Bailey’s so make sure you stop by.

Come socialize with classy Young Republicans and fellow politico’s at the July happy hour at Carpool in Ballston from 7:00-9:00 pm on July 10th. Carpool is a funky garage-themed bar with shuffleboard, pool tables, and more, conveniently located a short walk from the Ballston metro. They’ve got a large parking lot in front for those who prefer to drive. Specials end at 9:00 pm, and include half price burgers, Miller Lite for $2.75, Microbrew for $3.50, and 32 oz. Coronas for $6. First 12 people get a free drink! Our group will be left of the bar. When you enter, head left and find us in the side room that is parallel to Fairfax Blvd.

Volunteer for Romney on Super Saturday

This Saturday (July 7th) we are taking part in the RNC’s Super Saturday and we are planning on knocking thousands of doors in northern Virginia and we’d like to invite you to come door to door with us. We will be starting at the Romney for President Virginia HQ (3811 Fairfax Drive – Suite 750) which is located a block from the Virginia Square Metro Station (Orange Line). We have walks leaving the HQ at 9am, 12pm, and 3pm. If you can let us know in advance if you are able to go door to door on Saturday, we would appreciate it. We’ll provide you with walk books, t-shirts, and bottles of water and you can help provide us with the effort it is going to take to win Virginia this fall.

Volunteer with Arlington County Republicans this summer

We encourage Arlington Republicans to get involved this summer for our 2012 ticket: Mitt Romney, George Allen, Patrick Murray and Matt Wavro. You can make calls for our candidates, help us to identify Republican voters, place campaign signs in your yard, and add some bumper stickers to your car.

Happy Friday and Happy Fathers Day Weekend!

While typical AFCYRs tradition puts our monthly meeting on the 3rd Monday of the month, we are going to be having our regular meeting on the 27th instead. We will also be holding our happy hour on July 10th instead of the 3rd, to avoid missing people out for travel on the 4th. Don’t worry though- after this month we will be returning to our regularly scheduled meetings!

Also for those in town this weekend looking for YR related activities, you can join us at the 2012 Young Republican Federation of Virginia Annual Meeting, held in Richmond, Virginia. The meeting will be held at the Greater Richmond Convention Center, 403 N. Third Street, Richmond Virginia and will begin promptly one hour after adjournment of the 2012 Republican Party of Virginia State Convention (approximately 2:30 PM).
